Desire Desire Pants On Fire

What lured a lost eye into love? Was it lust or love? If the beauty our eyes behold daily is seen with a closed eye, how then can we say it is beautiful? Can a blind man bind himself to a lovely bride? When we cannot see, what do we see? Darkness or dreams?

What does this love grow into when your curiosity is met? How do you hide the disdain in your hello when you no longer feel what you felt? How do you find your way when you are lost? Do you question the path or your choice? Why do we feel lust?

Love has found a way to stay far and lust has decided to be that friend we cannot resist. Something to feel when love is far away. How do we know it’s love when there’s lust? How do we know it’s lust when we’ve not known love?

When I say “Your smile is like that calm that follows my every storm” to the one I lust after, what do I say to the one I love? Does the same alphabet show up for me? What is the yardstick to measure one from the other? What can be done to help my heart?

If in my mind the way your body moves finds a place and in my heart your kindness finds home, how do I know which is love and which is lust? At what point can you say I’m lost? Can’t one person possess both? Can’t they co-exist? Can love be found in lust? Can one be lost in love?

At what juncture can we proudly say we love? When can we say we no longer desire? Can desires burn? Can desires die?

May the mind that ponders find what makes it find rest. And may the heart that always wonders feel at ease because these questions are what makes us who we are…humans.
